Is the ABS light on your BMW motorcycle permanently on or flashing, and the ABS no longer regulating? On many BMW models from the 1990s and early 2000s the ABS 2 pressure modulator is the cause. That does not have to mean replacing it with an expensive new part: in many cases your original unit can be repaired.
Typical symptoms of a defective ABS 2 pressure modulator
- ABS warning light is permanently on or the indicator lights flash alternately
- ABS fails partially or completely
- ABS control does not work properly or only sporadically
- The fault occurs after starting or while riding
- Faults in the memory can be cleared but come back
What exactly is wrong inside the unit can only be determined after removal and diagnosis.
Which BMW motorcycles can the pressure modulator be considered for?
The repair service may be suitable for the following models, among others:
- BMW R 850 R
- BMW R 1100 R, R 1100 GS, R 1100 RS, R 1100 RT
- BMW R 1150 GS
- BMW R 1200 C
- BMW K 1100 LT, K 1200 LT, K 1200 RS
Depending on the model, year of manufacture and version, different pressure modulators are fitted. The decisive factor is therefore the part number on your unit. If in doubt, we are happy to give you an assessment if you send us a photo of the type plate.
Repair or exchange unit – your options
Repair of your original unit: You remove the pressure modulator and send it to us. We carry out a diagnosis, get back to you with the test result and repair the unit after your approval. The repair costs a fixed price of €499 (including VAT); shipping within Germany is free. Processing usually takes 3–7 working days, somewhat longer depending on the effort involved.
Exchange unit: If you want your motorcycle to be roadworthy again as quickly as possible, you receive a refurbished unit in advance and send your old unit back afterwards. A deposit of €250 is paid for this, which is refunded after the old unit has been checked.
We give a 12-month warranty on both.
